Idle Tortoise is a weekly-ish paneled webcomic I created and publish at idletortoise.com. The series follows Barry’s musings, a soldier stationed on a remote beach long after their war has ended — only no one is really left around to tell them. It’s a mix of dry humor, existential ramblings, and the occasional cannon blast at passing seagulls. I handle all aspects of the project, from writing to visual design, using a digital vector workflow primarily in Figma, with occasional finishing touches in Photoshop.
The comic is a personal creative outlet, with equal parts hobby, storytelling experiment, and artistic challenge. I keep the visuals clean and consistent using a limited color palette and modular characters to streamline production. Idle Tortoise allows me to explore character development, tone, and timing in a serialized format, while also maintaining a playful design system that can scale if the project ever goes beyond its quiet little island.
